Brewers bounce back to square Chicago series

One day after getting routed 15-2 by the Chicago Cubs, the Milwaukee Brewers regrouped for a come-from-behind 4-3 victory in the second game of their three-game weekend series at Wrigley Field.

Pinch hitter Manny Pina’s two-run home run in the seventh inning proved to be the winning margin.

Pina has largely been an afterthought as starting catcher Omar Narvaez has been surging at the plate in the first month of the season. Still, the longest-tenured member of the team proved he still has plenty of value when called upon.

“It's hard when you don't play too much," Pina told reporters via zoom after the game. “Every day I come here ready if they need me and I do my job…just staying ready for when the manager needs me in the game, like today."

Milwaukee (12-8) will send Brandon Woodruff (1-0, 1.96 ERA) to the mound in Sunday’s finale. Chicago (10-10) will counter with Jake Arrieta (3-1, 2.86 ERA). First pitch is set for 1:20 P.M.
