Milwaukee couldn't overcome the early struggles of Brent Suter, who gave up five walks, three hits, and three runs in the first two innings of Wednesday night's 4-2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first game of the best-of-three NL Wild Card Series.
The Brewers got two runs back in the fourth inning on a home run by Orlando Arcia, but scattered seven hits over the game's first eight innings in the loss.
Milwaukee's bullpen held up well against the high-powered offense of the Dodgers, owners of the best record in MLB. Four pitchers worked from the second inning on, giving up just three hits, one walk, and one run.
Thursday night is a must-win for the Brewers to advance, and Milwaukee will have to topple Clayton Kershaw to move on.
