Ryan Braun hit a three-run home run in the eighth inning to help push the Brewers past the Royals Saturday night 5-0.
Milwaukee led 1-0 after the bottom of the third inning, but got some breathing room when Braun connected on his 351st career home run.
Corbin Burnes threw six shutout innings with nine strikeouts, allowing four hits. Devin Williams struck out four batters in two innings, and Drew Rasmussen tossed a perfect ninth with two strikeouts to complete the three-pitcher shutout.
Milwaukee improved to 25-26 with nine games remaining, including Sunday afternoon's home finale against Kansas City. The Brewers are essentially tied with the Cincinnati Reds for the final Wild Card spot, one win and one loss back in the standings, and are also tied with the San Francisco Giants at 25-26.
