Brewers opt out of playing Wednesday night vs. Reds

According to national baseball writer Jared Diamond, the Brewers and Reds will sit out of Wednesday night's contest, meaning no forfeit situation. Earlier Wednesday, the Milwaukee Bucks boycotted their NBA Playoff game vs. Orlando. That decision led to the entire NBA Playoff slate being postponed, with a players' meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. for the entire league.

Diamond, who writes for the Wall Street Journal, reported nearly two hours before scheduled first pitch that the Brewers would sit out of the game in solidarity with the Bucks' decision to do the same earlier in the day, as well as in response to the events in Kenosha earlier in the week.

Brewers players met two and a half hours before scheduled first pitch to determine if they would play, according to Brewers.com writer Adam McCalvy. Before the team meeting, Brewers pitcher Josh Hader told reporters that the team would discuss not playing Wednesday night.
