Shelby Miller opts out of 2020 season; Brett Anderson returns from IL

The Milwaukee Brewers made a flurry of roster moves Monday with their alternate training site roster.

The second Brewers player to opt out of the 2020 season is pitcher Shelby Miller, who was not with the major league club in Milwaukee. Miller, a 2015 All Star with Atlanta, had a 8.59 ERA in 44 innings pitched in 2019 with Texas.

Here are the Brewers roster moves made on Monday:

  • LHP Brett Anderson reinstated from the 10-day injured list.
  • C Jacob Nottingham optioned to the Alternate Training Site.
  • INF Ryon Healy and INF Mark Mathias recalled from the Alternate Training Site.
  • RHP Shelby Miller has opted out of the remainder of the 2020 season.
  • OF Hedbert Perez and RHP Justin Topa added to the 60-man Player Pool roster and transferred to the Alternate Training Site.
