Brewers' weekend series with Cardinals postponed

Milwaukee's home-opening weekend series with the St. Louis Cardinals has been postponed with no make-up date announced. The Brewers will stay at Miller Park to play the Chicago White Sox in a home-and-home series beginning Monday.

In a statement released by MLB, the league is continuing testing and monitoring of the Cardinals following additional positive tests to Cardinals staff on Saturday.

Milwaukee and St. Louis play again in September at Miller Park, as well as a second series at St. Louis to wrap up the regular season.

Originally, the Brewers and Cardinals were to play a three-game series this weekend, but two positive tests on the Cardinals forced a postponement of Friday's game. When additional positive tests were revealed Saturday, MLB postponed Saturday's contest.

Also, on Saturday, Brewers outfielder Lorenzo Cain opted out of the 2020 MLB season, citing family reasons for his decision.

The Brewers will play next Monday night against the Chicago White Sox to begin a two-game series at home before heading to Chicago on Wednesday for two contests.
