Brewers toss one-hit shutout in 3-0 win over Pirates Wednesday

After two four-run rallies in the three-game series, Wednesday's result was more measured thanks to a dominant pitching effort by the Milwaukee Brewers.

Brandon Woodruff tossed six and one-third innings of one-hit shutout baseball as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday night 3-0.

Four pitchers - Woodruff, David Phelps, Devin Williams, and Josh Hader - combined to throw 14 strikeouts (10 by Woodruff) while allowing the one hit and issuing just one walk.

Milwaukee scored its runs via the long ball, with Ben Gamel knocking one out of the park in the third inning to give the Brewers a two-run lead, and Keston Hiura adding to the scoring with a solo shot in the sixth.

The Brewers stand at 3-3 heading into Friday's home opener against the St. Louis Cardinals.
