Brewers to sign utility player Brock Holt

With position players reporting to camp in Arizona for the Brewers, you can add one more name to the roster.

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports and The Athletic reported Monday evening that the Milwaukee Brewers would be signing utility player Brock Holt, the former Red Sox All-Star infielder and World Series champion.

Holt, who won a World Series in 2018 with Boston and appeared in the 2015 All-Star Game, will join the Brewers as a strong depth piece to this year's lineup.

In 2019, Holt played at six different positions in the field, including every infield spot and the corner outfield spots. In his career, he's played at second base in 243 of his 639 career games, but has logged games at every position except pitcher and catcher in his eight-year major league career.

While the positional versatility is nice, Holt also adds solid bat, batting a career-high .297 with an OPS just a few ticks below his career high of .774, at .771 last year. Holt played part-time for the Red Sox, appearing in 87 games.
