Milwaukee's offseason of change continues Thursday morning with news that the Brewers will make a move at catcher.
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Milwaukee Brewers are set to acquire Seattle Mariners catcher Omar Narváez. Last year's starting catcher for the Brewers, Yasmani Grandal, signed with the Chicago White Sox this offseason.
Narváez, who will turn 28 in February, had an OPS of .813 in 2019, his first career season in which he played over 100 games. He hit 22 home runs in 482 plate appearances. Prior to 2019, he played for the Chicago White Sox, with a career OPS of .772.
While the offensive numbers shine, Narváez led the majors in stolen bases allowed as a catcher last year, and was second in the majors in 2018. He was also fourth in passed balls and errors committed at catcher in 2019 as well.
