Reigning NL MVP Christian Yelich broke his kneecap in Tuesday's win over his former team, the Miami Marlins, and will be out the rest of the season, per the Milwaukee Brewers.
Yelich was injured when a ball deflected off of his leg in the first inning, and was removed from the game.
Yelich currently leads the MLB in OPS and slugging, with 44 home runs and 97 RBI. The 44 homers are a career-high for Yelich.
Milwaukee trails the Chicago Cubs by two games in the Wild Card standings with 18 games left to play in the season.
