Brewers acquire pitchers Drew Pomeranz and Ray Black in trade

Continuing their quest to acquire as much pitching help as possible ahead of the trade deadline, the Milwaukee Brewers dealt infielder prospect Mauricio Dubon to San Francisco in exchange for left-handed pitcher Drew Pomeranz and hard-throwing right-hander Ray Black.

Pomeranz, 30, has struggled the past two seasons, recording a 6.08 ERA last year and a 5.68 ERA this season. However, he's throwing a career-best 10.7 strikeouts per nine innings this year. Pomeranz was a 2016 NL All-Star.

Black, 29, can hit 100mph on the radar gun. Black has been used primarily as a low-stakes reliever in his 25 1/3 innings in the big leagues. Black does own 38 career strikeouts. In the minors this year, Black has a 5.16 ERA in 23 games pitched.

Mauricio Dubon, who just turned 25, got a cup of coffee with the Brewers this season. The Brewers' #4 prospect according to Baseball America was hitting just under .300 at Triple-A San Antonio, with a career-high 16 home runs.
