Freddie Freeman's three-run home run in the fourth inning broke open the scoring and lifted the Braves to a 4-2 win over the Brewers on Monday night in Milwaukee.
The home run came off of Adrian Houser, who pitched six innings, allowing eight hits and four runs.
Ryan Braun hit a solo home run for Milwaukee. Keston Hiura finished a home run shy of the cycle in the loss.
Game two of the three-game series is Tuesday evening in Milwaukee.
Earlier on Monday, the Brewers placed Corbin Burnes on the 10-day injured list and called up Burch Smith, who pitched one inning with three strikeouts in the ninth inning for Milwaukee.
