In their series opener with the Chicago Cubs, the Milwaukee Brewers scored a shutout 7-0 victory on eight hits, with six pitchers combining for the shutout in Chicago.
Gio Gonzalez pitched into the sixth inning, allowing just two hits.
The Brewers took an early 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on a Ryan Braun solo home run. Milwaukee added two runs in each of the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings to ring their total up to seven in the win.
Game two of the three-game series is Saturday afternoon at Wrigley Field.
