Six runs in the first two innings led the Milwaukee Brewers past the Washington Nationals 7-3 on Wednesday afternoon at Miller Park. The Brewers swept the three-game series and have now won six games in a row.
Mike Moustakas went yard as part of the surge in the four-run first inning, and the Brewers tacked on two more runs in the second. That lead would hold throughout, as Brandon Woodruff allowed one run on four hits and struck out nine in six innings of work. Five more pitchers followed, with Josh Hader cleaning things up in the ninth inning, a two-out save in which Hader picked up two more strikeouts to bump his season total to 41, as well as his 10th save.
The Brewers have the day off before facing the Chicago Cubs Friday through Sunday in Chicago.
