Milwaukee got just five hits and scored only one run in a 3-1 loss to Los Angeles on Thursday at Miller Park. The Brewers' lone run was scored on a Christian Yelich home run, his 10th of the season.
Julio Urias struck out nine Brewers in six innings as the Dodgers racked up a dozen strikeouts total in the win, which moved Los Angeles a half game ahead of the Brewers for the NL's best record.
Milwaukee is now in second place in the NL Central as well with a 12-8 record. Pittsburgh is 10-6, so Milwaukee has two more wins and two more losses than the Pirates.
Game 2 of a four-game series is Friday night at Miller Park.
