A monster game for reigning NL MVP Christian Yelich, which included a trio of home runs and a web gem of a sliding catch, led the Milwaukee Brewers past the St. Louis Cardinals 10-7 on Monday.
Yelich recorded seven RBI in the game.
Milwaukee used seven pitchers in the winning effort, including one and two-thirds innings pitched by Junior Guerra, who got the win, and a three-strikeout ninth inning for Josh Hader, who picked up the save.
With the win, the Brewers dropped the Cardinals a game and a half back in the NL Central, while Milwaukee maintains that margin over Pittsburgh as well. The Brewers also have a half-game lead for the best record in the NL over San Diego, Los Angeles, and New York.
