Milwaukee pounded St. Louis 12-4 on Tuesday night to reduce their magic number to one, and can clinch a playoff spot with a win tonight over the Cardinals.
The win also moved the Brewers to a half game behind the Chicago Cubs with four games left for Milwaukee and five games left for the Cubs.
The Brewers will try to extend their three-game winning streak by sweeping the Cardinals, who are now four games back of the Brewers for the top Wild Card spot. Milwaukee's already clinched a home game if the Cardinals win the second Wild Card and the teams have the same record at the end of the season by virtue of winning the season series. The Cardinals are a half game behind the Colorado Rockies for the final Wild Card.
