The Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly signing free agent former Pro Bowl running back Kareem Hunt to their practice squad, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Tuesday (September 17).

The reported move came hours after the Chiefs placed Isiah Pacheco on injured reserve Monday (September 16).

"Reunion: The #Chiefs are signing their own former star RB Kareem Hunt, who visited with and worked out for the team today, source says. Hell start on the PS and help fill the void left by Isiah Pacheco’s injury, which will put him out potentially two months," Rapoport wrote on his X account Tuesday.

Hunt, 29, spent his first two seasons with the Chiefs, which included recording a career-best 1,327 rushing yards, which also the league, during his rookie season in 2017. The former Toledo standout was waived by Kansas City in November 2018 after a video surfaced showing him pushing and kicking a woman, which resulted in an eight-game suspension after he signed with the Cleveland Browns the following season.

Hunt recorded 4,436 yards and 40 touchdowns on 1,030 rushing attempts, as well as 226 receptions for 1,890 yards and 17 touchdowns in 38 starts and 91 career appearances.

Pacheco is reportedly expected to be placed on injured reserve and miss 6-8 weeks due to a fibula injury, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler on Monday (September 16).

"Source: #Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco (fibula) expected to miss approximately 6-8 weeks. He’ll go on IR but plans to be back this year," Fowler wrote on his X account.

Pacheco, 25, underwent X-rays Sunday (September 15) night after suffering the injury during the Chiefs' 26-25 win against the Cincinnati Bengals and was scheduled to have an MRI on Monday to determine whether there was a fracture and/or ligament damage to his right ankle, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN. The two-time Super Bowl champion was seen on crutches and had his right foot in a walking boot while leaving Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday.

"I know it won't be this week and it'll probably be more than that," head coach Andy Reid said when asked about a potential timeline for Pacheco's return via ESPN. "... It's going to take a little bit of time there.''
