Delivery Driver Killed In Parking Lot Of Jack Pirtle's Chicken

A man was found shot in the parking lot of the Jack Pirtle's Chicken on the 1200 block of South Bellvue in South Memphis. The victim's name has not been released.

The Memphis Police Department responded to the scene Monday morning, where they found a male victim with multiple gun shot wounds. He was pronounced dead on scene.

Police have not released any additional information, but WREG reported that employees recognized the man as a delivery driver who delivers to the restaurant every month.

On Tuesday, restaurant owner Tawanda Pirtle released a statement on social media, confirming the victim was a delivery driver for the restaurant and saying her heart hurts for the loss of a husband and father who was simply doing his job.

"These gentleman in this occupation are some of the nicest and most honest hardworking folks we know," the statement read in part.

Pirtle asked that everyone keeps the victim's family and coworkers in their thoughts and prayers as well as other delivery drivers in the area and the workers at Jack Pirtle's.

"These folks can NEVER EVER be appreciated enough for the job they do that truly connects to every person and every business and every household," she said.

Police are currently searching for suspects in the crime.
