Area wrestlers to compete at WIAA State Wrestling Tournament

Following Saturday's Sectionals, the WIAA State Tournament is set, including some area undefeated wrestlers competing in Madison February 27-29.

In Division 1, Stoughton sophomore Nicolar Rivera (44-0) leads the field at 120, while Madison Memorial senior Kaden Reetz (39-0) will wrestle at 152. Baraboo junior John Gunderson (33-0) will wrestle at 182.

Area Division 2 undefeated wrestlers include Prairie du Chien senior Tyler Hannah at 195, who has the most victories of any undefeated wrestlers at state (50-0). Portage sends senior Jessie Tijerina (44-0) along at 138, while East Troy senior Tommy Larson (10-0) will compete at 120.

Finally, in Division 3, no area wrestlers are undefeated, but Poynette freshman Gunnar Hamre (42-1, 138) and sophomore Cash Stewart (41-1, 120) headline some of southern Wisconsin's finest at state.
