HSBB: East knocks off undefeated La Follette 90-85 in overtime

It took overtime, but Madison East took down previously-undefeated Madison La Follette 90-85 on Friday night to even up the season series between the rivals.

East led at halftime 40-37, and while La Follette led for parts of the second half, neither team led by more than seven points in the entire game.

Anthony Washington led all scorers in the game with 23 points, while Keonte Jones led an inspired effort for the Purgolders with 20 points and solid defense, including five blocked shots, despite an injured knee.

For La Follette, Isaiah Stewart led four in double figures with 20 points for the Lancers, with Derek Gray and Ben Probst each tossing in 17 in the first loss in 20 games for La Follette.

East improved to 16-4 and 15-2 in the Big 8, while La Follette fell to 19-1 and 16-1 in the conference. If La Follette loses Thursday and East wins Thursday in the regular-season finale, the teams will share the Big 8 title.

As it is, La Follette had already clinched a share of the league crown, its first since head coach Curtrel Robinson was a junior at La Follette in 2002-03.
