HSGB: Middleton, DeForest, Marshall, Lake Mills earn #1 seeds

Pairings and brackets were revealed by the WIAA on Sunday for the girls basketball tournament, which will begin on Tuesday, February 25.

Division 1, Sectional 3, featuring all 10 Big 8 schools, will be led by Middleton with the #1 seed. Big 8 co-leader Madison Memorial is the #2 seed, followed by #3 Waunakee and #4 Janesville Craig.

Beloit Memorial will host the half-sectional that contains the #1 and #4 seeds, while Kenosha Tremper will host the bracket with the #2 and #3 seeds. Beloit Memorial also serves as the sectional final host.

Watertown of the Badger South is the #7 seed in Sectional 2 of Division 1.

Division 2's area grouping in Sectional 3 features a number of the teams from the Badger Conferences. DeForest earned the #1 seed on the top half of the bracket, with #2 Oregon, #3 Reedsburg, and #4 Monona Grove filling out the remaining top seeds. The half-sectional will play at Baraboo, with the sectional final at Janesville Craig.

Beaver Dam, the three-time defending Division 2 state champion, also earned a #1 seed in Sectional 2.

Local teams in Division 3, Sectional 3 were seeded Platteville (#1), Evansville (#2), Prairie du Chien (#3), and Dodgeville (#4) in the top half, with defending D3 champ Marshall getting the #1 seed in the bottom half of the sectional. Secitonal semifinals are at Lodi and Lomira, with the sectional final to be played at Edgewood.

Over in Sectional 4, Lake Mills got the #1 seed in the top half of the sectional, while Clinton got the #1 seed in the bottom half.
