La Follette defeats Memorial 63-61 on Reeves, Jr.'s game-winner

Troy Reeves, Jr.'s game-winning shot with 2.1 seconds remaining gave Madison La Follette a big home-court win over Madison Memorial on a snowy Friday evening, 63-61.

It was Memorial that got out to a big lead at the start, going up 11-1 before La Follette brought the game back to even later in the first half. The teams traded leads through the first half, with the Lancers eventually taking a 29-27 lead into the locker room.

La Follette added to the lead coming out of halftime, going up 36-29 and keeping the Spartans at arm's length for most of the game. Ben Probst hit three of his four three-point baskets in the second half, while Reeves, Jr. hit some tough jumpers to keep La Follette in front for most of the second half. Memorial caught back up on the strength of 12 second-half points from both Nick Caropreso and Cade Ellingson, and briefly took a late lead before settling for a 61-61 tie with 27 seconds remaining in the game.

That's when La Follette ran their final play to set up Reeves, Jr. for his late heroics.

With 2.1 seconds remaining, Memorial could not get the ball to a Spartan to try a last-second heave, with Probst stealing the desperation inbound pass to seal a huge La Follette win.

With Madison West defeating previously-undefeated Madison East 96-80, La Follette drew within a game of the conference lead, and a date with their east-side rivals on February 15 could decide the conference title.

Here's coach Curtrel Robinson and forward Ben Probst after the big win over Memorial:
