After a 48-7 win over Pewaukee, Mount Horeb/Barneveld will face off against powerhouse Catholic Memorial of the Classic Eight Conference on Friday night in Level 3 of the Division 3 WIAA Football Playoffs.
First-year Vikings head coach Bret St. Arnauld believes that each team's schedule played a large part in preparing each respective squad for the postseason. Both teams play consistently up against larger schools during the year, and the drop-down effect gives them a chance to play schools their own size.
For Mount Horeb/Barneveld, this is their fifth trip to Level 3 since 2011. The Vikings are 1-3 all-time in Level 3 games, advancing to Level 4 in 2012, and boast an above-.500 winning percentage in playoff games. However, their opponent, Catholic Memorial, is 37-13 since joining the WIAA in 2000 in the postseason, with two state titles and three runner-up finishes, their most recent state trip coming in 2016 with a championship.
