Waunakee held Monona Grove's offense in check all night as the Warriors won their 26th game in a row by defeating Monona Grove 33-7 on Friday night in Level 3 of the WIAA High School Football Playoffs.
Quarterback Jarrett Wulf threw four touchdowns, Sawyer Maly had a pick, a fumble recovery, and a receiving touchdown, and Reed Ryan had a couple of highlight-reel plays as Waunakee dominated the Silver Eagles in a battle of unbeatens.
Waunakee's last loss came to Monona Grove in the 2016 playoffs in Level 2. Monona Grove lost to Waunakee in the regular season but stunned the Warriors. Since then, Waunakee has won a state title in Division 2.
The two teams probably won't have to wait long to see each other again. It's rumored that they will play each other in Week 1 of the 2019 season.
