Sugar River, Mount Horeb, and McFarland are part of the same sectional along with Edgewood, and all four programs are very familiar with one another. Edgewood Crusaders coach Chris Martinelli discusses the final four in the sectional and how his team has improved during the 2018 season.
One of the biggest advantages for all four teams, of course, is geography. The close proximity to Madison and larger programs, and Edgewood's regular games against the other Madison city schools, gives the smaller schools big opportunities to play top competition. That's given the regular teams out of this sectional a positive heading into the state finals, because whoever emerges from the area will be tested.
Edgewood plays Mount Horeb on Thursday. The winner faces McFarland or Sugar River on Saturday for a trip to state.
