River Valley had a successful season, both in conference and non-conference play, and the reward is the opportunity to host South Central Conference champion Mauston in the first level of the Division 4 WIAA playoffs.
River Valley coach Tim Eastlick believes the difficult schedule that his team played helped them both play well down the stretch, with non-conference games against Westby and Onalaska, and set them up for a shot at a home playoff game. The reward, though, is a talented one-loss Mauston squad that is among the state's better teams at running the football, and a defense stocked with talented players all over the place.
Mauston at River Valley is the 4-5 game in Division 4, with the winner set to take on Lakeside Lutheran or Turner in Level 2 next week.
