First-place Verona meets second-place Sun Prairie in the final match of the Big 8 season, with the playoffs set to begin next week across Wisconsin in boy's soccer.
Coach Chris Handrick discusses the difficult Big 8, which has had as many as half of its teams ranked in the top ten of the WSCA Coaches' Poll. Handrick says that the solid competition in conference play benefits the Wildcats in two ways. First, in terms of player development, Verona doesn't have to travel far to find good opponents. Second, since all the Big 8 teams are in the same sectional, success against other Big 8 teams means better arguments for higher placement, and therefore more home games.
