Game Audio: HSFB: Madison Memorial 35, Madison West 13

Madison Memorial clinched a playoff spot, won the city championship, and won the 25th Battle for Burt Hable's Clipboard on Friday night with a physical 35-13 victory over two-time defending city champ Madison West.

Memorial ran only 12 plays in the first half, but to the tune of 153 yards and three touchdowns. West moved the ball up and down the field, but two costly turnovers in the first half were cashed into points, and a snafu on a punt on a low snap gave the Spartans the ball at the three as well to help Memorial take a 28-7 lead at halftime. Memorial scored three touchdowns in the final 2:54 before halftime to take a commanding lead.

West got over 200 yards rushing in the game, including a 100-yard effort from Kelvin Opoku-Appoh, who also scored a touchdown. Zach Mercier caught a four-yard touchdown from William Gutknecht for the other Regents score.

Memorial had two passing touchdowns from Jason Ceniti to Kwan Lewis in the first half, and Kam Marshall carried the ball ten times for 86 yards on one drive and capped it off with a three-yard touchdown run. Jeremiah Jordan recorded a pick six for the Spartans.
