Madison Memorial, Janesville Craig, McFarland, and East Troy are among the biggest surprises in the state in high school football as they lead their respective conferences at 3-0 one-third of the way through the high school football season.
While some of the games with more name recognition are occurring in the eastern part of the state, because of the surprise starts by these four squads, Travis Wilson of WisSports.net says that the McFarland-East Troy match-up this week is all of a sudden one of the state's most important games, something last year that would perhaps have been a little unlikely since McFarland missed the playoffs and East Troy finished in the middle of the Rock Valley pack.
Also, Travis describes how record rainfall and flooding has affected several school districts in southern and central Wisconsin, including in his hometown and current town, and what those communities are doing to get things back to normal, on the field but more importantly off the field as the rains continued this week.
