After a stat-busting 57-34 win over Edgerton to start the season, McFarland will meet Jefferson at Lussier Stadium this week while their home turf continues to be installed.
McFarland Coach Paul Ackley, who is also the school's AD, said the opening-week win was good offensively, going for over 500 yards and 57 points. Defensively, he said they can't give up 30 points in a game consistently and expect success, but was happy with how the team played overall in Week 1.
With Jefferson coming in for a Week 2 match-up, it'll be a big test to see how far the McFarland program has come in the past couple of years. The Eagles bring in a top-notch running back and an impressive defense.
Ackley also said that he's excited for the new home field, being installed right now, as the turf field will host football, soccer, band, and phy ed.
