Sun Prairie came home from Grand Chute, Wis. last year with the silver ball for finishing in second place in the state in baseball, after falling in the championship to Kimberly last June. Coach Rob Hamilton says that this year's crew is looking to finish the journey in 2018, although he acknowledges that second in the entire state is a great achievement in itself. The Cardinals have their sights set on the difficult Big 8 this season, with Janesville Craig the favorite atop four state-ranked teams in D1, including the fifth-ranked Cardinals. Sun Prairie is playing games in the opening week near St. Louis to get ready for 2018.
Coach Rob Hamilton talks about last year's journey and what his team is excited for as 2018 gets underway in the Wisconsin high school baseball season this week.
