We recap our best Madison Taxi Game of the Week broadcasts from 2017 this week.
For the first time in history, a Madison radio station broadcast a game from Bob Nodolf Field in Cambridge. With the venue's namesake and Hall of Fame coach looking on, Cambridge was able to hold off Belleville, clinch a playoff spot, and jump into first place in the Capitol South, while Belleville's try for their first conference title since 1982 would have to wait a few more weeks.
Cambridge rolled off three straight scores to start the game, and for a while it looked like the Blue Jays would win in a rout. Belleville answered, however, with 19 points of their own to take a lead into the fourth quarter. Cambridge got the go-ahead score on their penultimate drive, and Belleville faced a third-and-1 from midfield as they drove to tie or go ahead in the fourth quarter. Denver Evans burst through the middle for Cambridge to stop the short-yardage play in its tracks, and then the fourth-down pass went out of bounds, Cambridge ran out the clock and picked up a huge win on Senior Night.
