The Big 1070 is proud to present its 2017 Madison Taxi High School Football Game of the Week schedule!
Join WFCA Hall of Fame Coach Mike Stassi (Class of 2016 inductee) and Jimmie Kaska for our weekly broadcasts on The Big 1070, 1070 AM, 100.9 FM and on iHeartRadio!
WEEK 1: First up, to kick off our season's coverage, is a battle between two of the top senior quarterbacks in the Big 8, when the Middleton Cardinals meet the Madison Memorial Spartans!
WEEK 2: In what is usually one of the most important Big 8 match-ups of the season, the Middleton Cardinals will travel to face the Sun Prairie Cardinals. Will it be the vaunted Sun Prairie defense that comes out on top, or the Blackshirts of Middleton?
^WEEK 3, GAME 1: Our special Thursday night broadcast this year takes us to Mansfield Stadium, where the Madison Memorial Spartans will host perennial Big 8 contender, the Verona Wildcats!
^WEEK 3, GAME 2: Two teams stood atop the Badger North standings in 2016, and last year's clash between the two was a one-score game. Both the Waunakee Warriors and Mount Horeb/Barneveld Vikings are poised for big runs this year, but first they have to settle this early-season match en route to playing for a conference title!
WEEK 4: We turn our attention to the Badger South, which top to bottom will feature some outstanding football teams. The Monona Grove Silver Eagles are looking for a second straight trip to state this year, while the Edgewood Crusaders seek a move up the standings in this early September battle!
WEEK 5: Defense wins the day, typically, in a Middleton Cardinals-Verona Wildcats match-up. This mid-season contest may help decide the eventual Big 8 champion!
*WEEK 6: On a night in which the Madison West Regents will celebrate the 40th anniversary of their 1977 state championship team, the Madison East Purgolders cross town to try and crash the party!
*WEEK 7: A bitter rivalry continues late in the year, as the Edgewood Crusaders make the short drive down Park St/Highway 14 to take on the Oregon Panthers!
*WEEK 8: Last season's Big 8 Conference co-champions go at it in the first week of October in what could be another deciding game in claiming another title for either the Sun Prairie Cardinals or Verona Wildcats!
*WEEK 9: One of the most anticipated head-to-head quarterback match-ups in the entire state features the powerful spread offense of the Watertown Goslings slinging it out with the high-flying Monona Grove Silver Eagles to close out the regular season!
*Weeks 6-9: Our broadcast schedule is subject to change
^Week 3: Due to Packers Football (Thursday) and Badgers Football (Friday), our games will air on 100.9 FM only and be streamed at thebig1070.com/fm

What happened to Knobby Kelliher? Knobby says: "I want to watch my grandchildren play on Friday nights!" No worries: The original Hall of Fame Coach in our broadcast chair will still be at games around the area, and would be happy to talk football with you if you can find him on Friday night! Mr. Kelliher graciously helped us create this year's schedule before making the decision to take in games on a Friday night from a place other than the sidelines or the press box.
