Sunday night in Miami, former Mallard Derek Fisher participated in the 2017 All-Star Futures Game. The Futures game is part of the 2017 MLB All-Star festivities in Miami this week. The game featured a crop of the world’s best prospects.
Fisher was a key piece of the Team USA offense as he went 1-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base, and a two-run double in the 7-6 win. Fisher’s fourth inning drive to left-center knocked in two and gave the U.S. a commanding 7-0 lead.
The Houston outfielder has done nothing but produce all season, as he is batting .306 with 19 home runs and 14 steals in 74 games at Triple-A Fresno. Fisher also hit two homers in five games during a brief call up to the big-league Astros last month.
Fisher, who played collegiately at Virginia, played for the Madison Mallards in 2012. He was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 1st round, 37th overall, of the 2014 MLB Draft. In 2012 with the Mallards, Fisher hit .315 over 51 games and had eight home runs, 10 doubles, and two triples. He also drove in 36 runs and stole eight bases.
