For the fourth straight year, Milwaukee delivered a dramatic ending in a win over the rival Chicago Cubs.
Ryan Braun hit a sac fly to send home Christian Yelich in the bottom of the ninth inning Friday night at Miller Park, giving the Milwaukee Brewers a 1-0 victory over the Chicago Cubs.
Yelich walked aboard to lead off the ninth, and was moved to third on a single by Jed Gyorko. Braun's sacrifice fly was hit off of former Brewer Jeremy Jeffress.
Brandon Woodruff pitched seven scoreless innings, recording a dozen strikeouts in a dominating performance.
Josh Hader picked up the win with a perfect ninth, capping off a three-pitcher, two-hit, no-walk performance by Brewers pitchers.
Game 2 of the weekend series is Saturday at Miller Park.
