Barry Alvarez discusses the impact of COVID-19 on UW Athletics

Coronavirus has postponed or cancelled sporting events since the first half of March, with no firm return date on the horizon.

Wisconsin, and the rest of the colleges in the NCAA, cancelled their spring semester sports after calling off the remaining winter sports tournaments in March. Wisconsin Athletic Director Barry Alvarez spoke publicly on Wednesday night for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the sports word, discussing the impacts of losing the bulk of the postseason in winter sports, the cancellation of all sports this spring, and how that's played out financially. Alvarez also talks about the impacts on the student-athletes, and the NCAA's decision to grant an additional year of eligibility to those who lost their seasons this semester, which Wisconsin will not follow, on his statewide radio show on Wednesday night:

Alvarez also discusses the viability of a college football season and what some of the next steps will be from an administrative standpoint during his show. You can listen to the full show below.
