UW Women's Hockey Coach Mark Johnson reacts to season ending Thursday

Wisconsin's women's hockey team was set to open up the NCAA Tournament this weekend at LaBahn Arena, but the tournament has now been canceled.

Coach Mark Johnson discusses the news, telling Brian Posick that there were players in tears, and that the realization has set in that the season is over. For his seniors, the end of their careers is a bittersweet moment.

Johnson laments that the team won't get to play for a national title, but adds that when you look at the big picture, there are things bigger and beyond sports and the NCAA's decision directly deals with the safety of everyone involved.

NCAA Tournaments & Championships Cancelled

For the remainder of the academic year, athletic competitions and tournaments in winter and spring sports are canceled effective immediately, per the NCAA and the Big Ten Conference.
